Ruan Drivers Excel in Truck Driving Championships

Several Ruan professional drivers took home awards at state trucking association Truck Driving Championships in May and June! Each state competition includes a written exam and personal interview to evaluate the drivers’ professionalism and knowledge of the trucking industry. In addition, they compete in a driving contest in which they must navigate a series of problems like driving between cones, stopping with axles on markers, and completing turns around obstacles. They also conduct a judged pre-trip inspection. 

IOWA

Fifteen drivers from Ruan operations across Iowa competed in the Iowa Motor Truck Association’s Truck Driving Championships in June. Dean Key of T583 in Holstein, IA, placed first in the four-axle van division and will move on to compete in the American Trucking Associations’ National TDC in August. Dakota Dekeyrel of T613 in Muscatine, IA, placed second on the five-axle van division, and Tex Halligan of T549 in Cedar Falls, IA, took home third place in the five-axle sleeper division.

NORTH DAKOTA

Three drivers from T427 in Otsego, MN, competed in the North Dakota Truck Driving Championships: Dustin Schafer, Dave Schafer, and Kevin Schmidt. These drivers haul Bobcat products to North Dakota on every shift. 

Schmidt took home first place flatbed division and will also be attending the national competition in August. Dustin Schafer competed in the five-axle division, placing second and was also named the overall Rookie of the Year.

MINNESOTA

Five Ruan drivers competed in the Minnesota Truck Driving Championships, and two of them placed in their divisions. took home second in the flatbed division.

WISCONSIN

Two drivers, Tim Wolfe and Darrin Krebs, from T236 in Eau Claire, WI, represented Ruan in the Wisconsin Truck Driving Championships.
