"In my personal experience, Ruan drivers are by far the safest and most courteous. This morning in particular, Hwy 97 was blanketed in fog and visibility was poor at best. When preparing to pull out from my drive onto Hwy 97 I saw an oncoming vehicle in the distance. I had plenty of time to pull out safely but I waited. I can't tell you how pleased I was to see that it was one of your drivers because I knew that I could safely follow them. Safety Leadership
We've always believed it is a moral imperative to provide our team members with the safest working environment possible. In fact, we were the first in the industry to introduce formal safety programs. The initial program, begun in the mid-1940s, included four supervisors responsible for hiring and providing safety training to all drivers. Ruan also offered safety awards and cash bonuses to drivers who were accident-free each year.
Even though we soon found that safety was a competitive advantage, we didn't keep our discoveries to ourselves. In 1986, Ruan developed the Megasafe pogram, which consisted of a series of training modules and videotapes focused on safe driving practices. We packed the Megasafe program into two specially painted trucks and embarked on a 46-city tour to spread the word about safety.
Today, Ruan has an entire safety team, including a director of safety and seven regional safety managers, guiding policies on everything from driver training to cell phone use. Our proprietary Megasafe Safe Driving Program educates all team members on safe driving techniques.
Compliance Safety Accountability
This regulation from the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration provides a better way to measure a motor carrier's safety performance. Ruan proactively monitors CSA scores and trains drivers based on accident or violation trends.

Hours of Service
Ruan strictly adheres to FMCSA's hours of service regulations. These rules help ensure our drivers are rested and in the best possible condition to share the road with our fellow citizens and can safely transport cargo for our customers.

Ruan's Driver of the Year is chosen from regional candidates nominated by each of our 230+ terminals. Driver of the Year candidates are chosen based upon their safety record, exceptional customer service and reliability.
