Ruan Driver Qualification Guidelines
Driving History
- Ruan must be able to obtain driving records from each state where applicant held a motor vehicle license in the past three years.
- Must have at least one (1) year of verifiable tractor-trailer experience.
- PSP data will be evaluated for employment.
Tickets/Moving Violations
- No more than three moving violations within the past three years:
- Pending citations need to be reviewed.
- Not more than one (1) conviction of any of the following within the past three years:
- Reckless driving.
- Careless driving or causing an accident.
- Speeding in excess of 15 mph of posted speed limit.
- No conviction of any of the following within the past three years in a Commercial Motor Vehicle.
- Reckless driving.
- Careless driving or causing an accident.
- Speeding in excess of 15 mph of posted speed limit.
- No convictions for operating a motor vehicle without permission of the owner or fleeing or eluding a police officer.
- Not more than 2 log falsification convictions within the past three years
None of the following violations in the past three years:
- Speed exhibition, contest or drag race.
- Assault with a motor vehicle.
- Causing a fatality through negligent operation of a CMV.
- Driving a CMV without obtaining a CDL or physical.
- Driving a CMV without proper endorsements for cargo.
Suspensions
License suspensions/revocations/disqualifications:
(Exceptions: unpaid tickets, proof of financial responsibility, child support, failure to appear in court or medical reasons).
- 0 within 3 years.
- 1 within 5 years.
- 2 in a lifetime.
- Other applicable state laws may limit consideration of offenses contained herein.
Accidents
- Not more than 2 DOT recordable, preventable (at-fault) accidents in the last three years .
- No preventable Trailer disconnect on roadway (even if no accident) in the last three years .
Drug/Alcohol Related Offenses
- In a personal vehicle:
0 = past 7 years
- Drug/Alcohol offense in a motor vehicle
- Refusal to take test required by implied consent or similar law
- Violation of an "open container" or similar statute
Other applicable state laws may limit consideration of offenses contained herein
- In a Commercial Motor Vehicle:
0 = lifetime
Rehires
- Must meet all new hire qualifications.
Employment History
Work history for the past three years must be supplied by the applicant. All driving positions within the past 10 years must be listed. All work history must be written on the application. Inconsistencies in work history or incomplete applications will be reviewed and may disqualify the applicant for employment.
Controlled Substance Testing
- No positive DOT or non-DOT drug or alcohol tests or refusals to test within the past 7 years.
- Must pass a pre-employment DOT controlled substance test.
Physical Requirements
- Must pass a DOT physical from a Ruan approved medical examiner and receive a DOT medical examiner's certificate that is valid for no less than 6 months from date of exam.
- Must complete a fitness for duty exam to determine your ability to perform all job functions including: lifting, bending, squatting, stepping, and sitting for extended periods of time.
Criminal History
- No Felony convictions in the last 7 years.
- No Aggravated Misdemeanor convictions in the last 7 years.
- Any pending charges and less than "honorable" discharges from the military will be evaluated and reviewed.
- Frequent or severe misdemeanor convictions will be evaluated and reviewed by the employer and may result in disqualification.
- Other applicable state laws may limit consideration of offenses contained herein.
