Questions & Answers:

  1. Will I definitely be hired by Ruan?
Ruan wants to hire all Team One who meet our qualifications. All Team One are invited to apply for employment with Ruan. Those who meet Ruan's driver hiring qualifications will be offered employment with Ruan. Information outlining Ruan's driver hiring qualifications is provided in the Ruan Information Packet.

  2. When will I transition to Ruan?
For those who receive and accept job offers, the process of transitioning Team One Drivers to Ruan will take place on October 3, 2011. You will be informed of your transition status at the earliest possible opportunity.

  3. Will my pay be the same?
Ruan plans to offer a compensation system that will allow drivers to earn approximately the same annual wages as they earn now. It is our intention to provide drivers opportunity to earn more through continuous improvement, efficiency gains, and increased backhaul opportunities that may not be available to Team One drivers today.

  4. How often will I be paid?
Ruan pays every other Friday for the two-week time-period that ended the preceding Saturday.

  5. Will my benefits be the same as I have at Team One?
They will not be the same. Ruan offers attractive benefits that are highly competitive in the transportation industry. A summary of these benefits is provided in the Ruan Information Packet.

  6. Will Ruan recognize my service with Team One?
If you are hired, Ruan will recognize your years of service while working on the Steel & Pipe Supply account and combine it with your future Ruan service for Ruan benefit purposes. Your years of service on the Steel & Pipe Supply account will count towards Ruan vacation benefits and it will satisfy the 60-day waiting period for medical benefits. If you have at least 60 days service with Team One, you will not wait for medical benefit coverage with Ruan. Previous service does not apply to the 401(k) plan.

  7. How will my vacation eligibility transition from Team One to Ruan?

Team One has committed to pay your earned but unused vacation pay to you at the time you transition from Team One to Ruan. You will be provided the opportunity to take unpaid vacation time at Ruan up to the amount of unused 2011 vacation you had with Team One when you transitioned to Ruan.

With advance notice to your supervisor and with his/her approval, you can take this unused Team One vacation without pay while you are with Ruan anytime between October 3, 2011 and March 31, 2012.

The unused Team One vacation time you take with Ruan through March 31, 2012 will be unpaid because you were paid for it by Team One when you transitioned to Ruan.

On January 1, 2012 you will first begin to earn vacation with Ruan according to Ruan's vacation schedule using your combined years of service on the Steel & Pipe Supply account and Ruan years of service. Ruan's vacation schedule is as follows:

Years of Service Annual Vacation Accrual
Less than 2 Years 1 Week
    2 - 9 Years 2 Weeks
    10 - 19 Years 3 Weeks
    20+ Years 4 Weeks

  8. Will I have Holidays and Personal Days at Ruan?
Ruan provides 6 paid holidays per year. Ruan does not provide personal days. All paid-time-off is covered by the Ruan vacation plan and defined holidays.

  9. Will my job change at Ruan?
Initially your job will be the same as what you did the day before you transitioned to Ruan. Over time, as we better understand Steel and Pipe Supply's service requirements, we will make incremental improvements. All Ruan customers expect this.

  10. Will I be dispatched the same way I was with Team One?
As Ruan begins to understand Steel & Pipe Supply requirements more, there will probably be some changes to dispatching but they are not likely to be significant. Our goal will be to operate the most efficient system we can while meeting or exceeding Steel & Pipe Supply's expectation.

  11. Will I have the same route(s)?

In most cases Team One Drivers transitioning to Ruan will continue to drive their normal routes, delivering to their same Steel & Pipe Supply customers. As we go forward, of course, we will continuously be looking for ways to improve our operations and serve both Steel & Pipe Supply and its customers better.

  12. Will I drive any new routes?
It is possible that you will be assigned to new or additional routes.

  13. Will I keep my same truck?
Trucks and trailers will continue to have the familiar Steel & Pipe Supply colors and branding. They will be owned or leased by Ruan. It is likely you will continue to drive the same truck that you drive now, but that may change over time.

  14. Who will be my supervisor?
Ruan will organize operations around each of the Steel & Pipe Supply hubs. Ruan calls these operations "Terminals." There will be Terminal leadership assigned to each terminal and each driver will be attached to one of these Terminals.

  15. Does Ruan use electronic load and log information?
Ruan will install and train all drivers on the use of PeopleNet.

  16. At what maximum speed does Ruan run its trucks?
Ruan runs its trucks no faster than 63 miles per hour (65 mph on cruise).

  17. Will our uniforms change?

Ruan uniform shirts will be provided to each driver
  18. What if I choose not to accept the Ruan job offer?
You have no obligation to accept a conditional job offer from Ruan. If you elect not to accept Ruan's job offer your employment with Team One will end as of the transition date.
