As Ruan Transportation Management Systems enters 2013, the 80-year-old company has made some key leadership changes to foster continued growth and facilitate an expansion of its Integrated Solutions services.
Steven H. Wood, former chief financial officer for Becker Underwood, Inc., for the last seven years prior to the sale of the business to BASF Corporation, recently joined Ruan's leadership team as senior vice president of finance and administration and chief financial officer. In his new role, Wood will be responsible for managing risk, financial analysis, general accounting, tax and license, payroll and customer accounting.
Wood joins Ruan as the company is expanding its core business of Dedicated Contract Carriage and increasing focus on Integrated Solutions to better provide a one source transportation management solution to its customers.
In addition to overseeing Ruan's company-wide budget, Wood will monitor and measure business practices and performance while supporting the needs of operating departments and more than 230 terminals across the U.S.
Prior to Becker Underwood, Wood served at Maytag Corporation for 14 years, where he held various positions in internal audit and information technology, followed by assignments as corporate controller and, lastly, as chief financial officer.
"Steve's significant senior management and financial experience will be critical to our company's continued success well into the future," said Ruan President and CEO Steve Chapman. "Steve is bringing Ruan tremendous leadership and insight as a fully integrated member of our team."
Another strategic move to support the Integrated Solutions growth directive was the recent promotion of Marty Wadle from vice president of logistics solutions to senior vice president of supply chains solutions. Wadle will provide the required leadership to grow the non-asset side of Ruan's business. Wadle will also oversee the deployment and integration of new technology systems that provide optimized logistics management solutions. In this position, Wadle will continue to oversee design, pricing and quality.
"What will continue to drive success in Integrated Solutions is the quality of our people, the customer service we provide, our technology solution and our ability to differentiate ourselves in a very competitive segment of the industry," Chapman said. "Marty possesses the knowledge and ability to provide the leadership required to achieve the goals we have established for our Integrated Solutions division."
