Safety Compliance Specialist
 
The Compliance Specialist works independently and as a team member to ensure compliance of the organization in areas of DOT, especially in regard to Hours of Service (HOS) compliance with various electronic logging devices.  The Compliance Specialist works directly with field operations and drivers to update information, track data, and coach to improve performance and results.
 
 
Responsibilities:
  • Analyze reports and investigate, problem solve and determine compliant options on electronic logging functions, Hours of Service (HOS) compliance and documents needed for compliance of CDL drivers.  Make independent decisions that may impact driver's record of duty status to ensure compliance.
  • Advise and coach operation personnel in Hours of Service regulations and the use of the electronic logging systems (in cab and on-line).
  • Run reporting for electronic logging devices.  Manipulate reports into a user friendly format and communicates to field operations and Safety.  Indentify and retrieve missing data.
  • Assess data for violation trends.  Recommend training and re-training or another intervention measure to the appropriate Safety Manager and/or Compliance Safety Manager.
  • Participate and assist in preparation for FMCSA compliance audits.
  • Create reports, memos, or programs using MS Word, Excel, or Powerpoint for trending, analysis, meetings, or training.
  • Act as in-house expert and be conversant on DOT regulations for other company personnel through knowledge of FMCSA and Canada MTO Hours of Service regulations as they apply to assgined terminals and personnel.  Stay abreast on new and changing regulations.  
  • Perform other job-related duties and special projects as needed.
 
Requirements:
  • Associate, Vocational, or Technical Degree or equivalent work experience
    Course(s) of study:  Business Logistics, Accounting, Communications, Safety,
    or related courses.
