OSHA Compliance Specialist
 
The OSHA Compliance Specialist works independently and as a team member to ensure regulatory compliance across the organization.  The OSHA Compliance Specialist works directly with field operations and Leadership to gather & update information, track data, audit, prepare OSHA investigation findings and coach to improve performance and results.
 
Responsibilities:
  • Conduct routine audits of Warehouses and Shops to ensure compliance of OSHA regulations.  Work with local Management to Identify and resolve any problems to maintain compliance with regulations and standards.
  • Assist with reporting Serious Injuries / Fatalities according to OSHA Regulation for the company.
  • Assist with OSHA Investigations; Investigating circumstances, preparing responses, and being onsite during investigation if needed. Assist with Interpreting, monitoring and assist local leadership with OSHA regulations to ensure company compliance.   
  • Complete OSHA training tracking for required operations and assist in developing and writing programs.
  • Act as the point person for collecting, reviewing, and finalizing the individual location's OSHA 300 Logs and submitting necessary information directly to OSHA.  Maintain the Official OSHA 300 Logs on file within the company electronic filing systems.
  • Collect, Complete, and return all BLS (Bureau of Labor and Statistics) Surveys received by the company and maintain electronic files.
  • Create reports, memos, or programs using MS Word, Excel, or PowerPoint for trending, analysis, meetings, or training. Work with internal company programs and departments to assist with gathering information and data needed.
 
Requirements:
  • Associate, Vocational or Technical Degree or equivalent work experience. Course(s) of Study: Occupational Safety and Health or related field of study.
  • 3 – 5 years’ experience / OSHA General Industry experience.
  • Proficient use of MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint required. Computer skills XRS or Peoplenet preferred but not required. 
  • Must have willingness and ability to work non-standard hours as needed.  Requires accuracy and detail orientated skills.  
  • Must have strong communication skills (non-confrontational and diplomatic approach)--phone, in person, and written.  
  • Must have ability to manage multiple projects. Requires planning, organizational, analytical, problem-solving, and time management skills. 
  • Needs coaching and mentoring skills. 
  • Must have strong knowledge of, and be able to be conversant about OSHA regulations as they apply to assigned locations and personnel.
