At Ruan, we consider our 3,700 professional truck drivers our most valuable assets. Our founder, John Ruan, personally hauled his first load of gravel with his single truck in 1932, and his transportation company was born. Over its nearly 79 year history, Ruan has grown to become one of the largest family owned, privately held transportation firms in the country, specializing in dedicated contract carriage, bulk transportation and integrated services.
About the Position
This open position will serve a dedicated contract carriage customer hauling grocery products in reefer trailers. Drivers will have mostly little to no touch freight. Full time drivers have 2 layovers per week, home weekends, and average $1,100/week!
Benefits of Ruan
At Ruan, our drivers' schedules are predictable with both home daily and regional operations. Drivers have local managers at most locations, and we assign drivers to one primary customer, eliminating uncertainty. This means our drivers handle the same type of equipment and cargo on most runs, they develop relationships with our customers and they generate ideas that improve our customers' operations. As the eyes and ears of daily operation, Ruan welcomes suggestions about improving processes. We trust your judgment and value your opinion and expertise.
Our work culture also provides our drivers with a predictable home life, something many truck drivers never experience. We encourage a healthy work-life balance. Also, we provide the industry's best benefits. As a result of all this, our driver retention rate is five times the industry average. Across the country at Ruan's 200+ terminals and at corporate headquarters in Des Moines, IA, employees are regularly given the opportunity to volunteer within their communities to continue the philanthropic heritage of founder John Ruan.
Ruan was the first carrier in the industry to introduce a formal safety program. And, safety training is as important to us today as it was when it was introduced in the mid-1940s. Drivers receive continuous in-depth training. Safety awards are given for accident-free years. And, our drivers are provided with well-maintained, late model equipment.
