Senior Systems Administrator
 
Provide technical guidance for the administration, operation, configuration, management and maintenance of the server, storage, and data center environments. Provide infrastructure support for the data center environment, including underlying support for hypervisors, operating systems and applications. Lead the design, development, documentation, analysis, creation, testing or modification of computer systems or programs according to the stated strategy and direction.
 
Responsibilities:
  • Provide technical direction and guidance for the system administrators to administer, create, test, and sustain operating system and related software.  
  • Ensure that appropriate metrics are in place to perform and monitor system backups and perform data recoveries.   
  • Develop documentation of processes for repeatable success and optimization of procedures.
  • Lead small projects within the systems administration team to update or replace technology or to position for future needs.
  • Provide guidance and technical direction to system administrators for writing programs and scripts in appropriate languages to perform maintenance and support tasks.
  • Develop automation to eliminate manual tasks.
  • Partner and work with other members in the department or outside departments, users, customers, and service providers to resolve issues.
  • Lead weekly off-hours systems upgrades and maintenance and application and database changes.
  • Perform other job-related duties or special projects as needed.
 
Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experienceCourse(s) of study: Computer Science, MIS or related focus. Prefer technical certifications such as: MCTS, MCITP, VCP.
  • Skills required in the following areas: Microsoft Windows Server 2003-2016, Microsoft Windows clustering concepts, network load balancing, Exchange/O365, VMware vSphere, View or ThinApp/App Volumes, Data Center experience including racking and wiring server equipment.  
  • Must possess and retain knowledge of current technologies.  
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with a wide variety of employees, management and service providers.  
  • Experience leading team projects.  
  • Excellent problem-solving and planning skills necessary. 
  • Must have proven self-directed experience.   
  • Detailed knowledge of VMWare solutions and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Other highly desired experience includes:  Cisco UCS, SQL Server fundamentals and system administrationSharePoint, IIS, Avamar and Data Domain (IDPA), SCCM, Orchestrator, EMC/Pure SAN concepts and architecture, Red Hat Linux
