Our founder, John Ruan, started Ruan 86 years ago on July 4, 1932. During the Great Depression, with just one truck, strong work ethic, and perseverance to provide for his family, he took advantage of an opportunity and built the foundation our company stands on today. Still, 86 years later, his work ethic, can-do attitude, and philanthropic spirit live on through our team.
Every July, we celebrate Founder’s Days to honor John Ruan and all Ruan team members for their dedication to their work, families, and communities. To honor and celebrate this philanthropic spirit in which Ruan was established, Ruan team members are encouraged to participate in volunteering opportunities and community service events during the month of July.
This year, Ruan team members donated their time and efforts to support a number of local causes. Volunteers from our corporate headquarters helped clean up facilities at Living History Farms, packaged nearly 40,000 meals with Meals from the Heartland, played baseball with disabled children through the Kiwanis Miracle League, played games with children at Courage League Sports, and prepared meals at the Iowa Homeless Youth Center. Our Minnesota team members participated in a Feed my Starving Children event and donated school supplies to a local school.
Thank you to all team members who volunteers with these deserving organizations!
