Ruan Transport Corporation today announced that it has named Jim Mulvenna to the new position of Senior Vice President and General Manager, Dairy and Bulk Food Transport Division, based in Tulare, Calif.

Mulvenna brings over 25 years of management and operational experience to this new position. Reporting to Mulvenna are Mike Elliott, Vice President and Region Manager, California Region and Wayne Ashley, Vice President and Region Manager, New Mexico Region.

Prior to joining Ruan, Mulvenna spent 25 years in the United States Army, where he held various leadership positions as a combat arms officer. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from North Central College, Naperville, Ill., a Master of Science degree in administration from Central Michigan University in Mount Pleasant, Mich., and a Master of Science degree in strategic studies from the Marine Corps University in Quantico, Va. He and his wife reside in Visalia, Calif.
Ruan has 23 locations in California and New Mexico serving the dairy and bulk foods business. California locations are in Acampo, City of Industry, French Camp, Fresno, Los Angeles, Los Banos, Madera, Mira Loma, Orland, Petaluma, Pomona, Rialto, Ripon, Sacramento, San Francisco, Santa Fe Springs, South Gate, Tulare, Turlock and Victorville. New Mexico locations are in Clovis and Roswell.
Last year, Ruan announced a partnership with the Innovation Center for U.S. Dairy on its Environmentally Sustainable Methods for Achieving Responsible Transportation (E-SMART) project, with a goal to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from fluid milk transport by 20% by 2020. Mulvenna serves as co-chair for the E-SMART project. Ruan is also a member of Dairy CARES, a California-based organization committed to environmental sustainability in the state's dairy industry.
Ruan is a pioneer in providing innovative technology solutions to help its customers. The company created RedTrak, a proprietary mobile technology customized for the dairy industry, which allows Ruan drivers to receive and share real-time data so the company's dispatchers can monitor each truck and keep the entire distribution line informed. The technology simplifies the tracking process for Ruan's customers, saving time and eliminating errors. In addition, Ruan is a member of the SmartWaySM Transport Partnership, an innovative collaboration between the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the freight industry designed to increase energy efficiency while significantly reducing greenhouse gases and air pollution.
