Ruan's Founder's Days Celebrated in July

Ruan Transportation Management Systems was born on July 4, 1932, when John Ruan hauled his first load of gravel. Every July, we honor the memory of our founder and his philanthropic spirit with Founder’s Days. All team members are encouraged to take time to volunteer and give back to their communities. This year, corporate employees will volunteer at Hawthorn Hill, Youth Emergency Services and Shelter, Courage League Sports and Meals from the Heartland throughout the month of July.

During this time, we also recognize outstanding professional drivers and terminal operations through the Driver of the Year and Terminal of the Year programs.

Driver of the Year seeks to select drivers that best embody our company’s values of dedication, integrity, safety and superior service. The process began by identifying 154 Region Finalists from our 270 operations. The list was then narrowed down to 16 Region Winners. These Region Winners and their guests will spend July 14-16 at corporate headquarters in Des Moines, IA, for our annual Driver of the Year events.

“There is no better time to celebrate our best, most distinguished professional drivers than during Founder’s Days, when Ruan Transportation Management Systems was the promising business of one determined, hard-working driver,” Chairman John Ruan III said of his father.

Our Terminal of the Year program recognizes the outstanding efforts of Ruan terminal teams as they demonstrate our Guiding Principles of Safety Focus, People First, Customer Satisfaction, Exceptional Performance and Continuous Improvement. Ten Region Finalists were picked from our 270 locations; the top three were then named Region Winners. Representatives from these terminals will also visit Des Moines July 14-16.

Happy Founder's Days!
