Meet Jesse Houseman, the Dedicated Operations Leader providing leadership to a host of operating groups across the country. Jesse’s team is dedicated to serving our customers in this area and is always looking for great professional drivers and technicians to join the team!
Q: How long have you been with Ruan?
I did an internship with Ruan while still in college the summer of 2007. I graduated from the University of Northern Iowa the next year with a degree in Business Management and came on full time with Ruan in June of 2008.
Q: What is your career history? How long have you worked in the transportation industry?
My whole professional career has been with Ruan. I’ve done about every role on the operations side during my time here. I started as an intern, then joined the manager trainee program. I have dispatched, managed a local operation, and now lead a team of managers supporting multiple customers across the U.S.
Q: What customer/industry does your operation(s) serve?
Our team supports several valued customers, including HNI, Hearth and Home Technologies, Grain Processing Corporation, Liberty Packaging, and US AutoForce. Our industries cover workplace furnishings, residential building products, packaging, automotive, and food ingredients. Together, we have 33 office staff, 220 drivers, and 11 technicians.
Q: What is your favorite/most rewarding part of your job?
I get to interact with a lot of great people, both inside and out of Ruan. We have a tremendous team in the office and the best professional drivers and technicians in the industry. I love to get out to the operations and thank our drivers for all of their hard work. I also get to work with some great customers that are true partners to Ruan.
Q: Does your operating group have any current job openings?
We are always looking for great people to join our team.
Q: Tell us about your life outside of work.
My wife and I have been married for 12 years. We are both UNI graduates. We have three children who keep us busy, and most weekends we can be found at dance competitions or the soccer fields. On our free weekends, we love to take the boat out to go fishing and spend time on the river.
