We are excited to feature several of our team members in our Recruiting Spotlight. The Recruiting Spotlight is a way to learn more about our recruiting team and their roles within Ruan. Meet Ranae Nicholson, Driver Recruiting Specialist at the Des Moines Campus.
Q: Tell us a little about your career path and background.
When I graduated from Simpson College in 2020, I was working in the mortgage industry. I quickly figured out I wanted to do something that gave me the opportunity to work with people in a positive way. I came to Ruan last summer as a Recruiting Coordinator and was later promoted to Recruiter in February. I have no idea what hat I will be wearing in a few years but am sure it will still have the Ruan logo on it.
Q: What do you enjoy most about recruiting for Ruan?
I love the small company feeling Ruan provides! We have a great team that works together and is always willing to help each other.
Q: What types of positions are you currently recruiting for?
I recruit truck drivers for mostly home daily and a few regional positions to support some of our dedicated grocery customers.
Q: What excites you about recruiting for Ruan?
I see drivers that leave or retire come back all the time, and I love the fact that they enjoy their jobs enough to return to us after life takes them on other journeys!
Q: What question are you most frequently asked by prospective drivers and technicians?
The question I am most frequently asked is about the amount of home time for positions. Most of my positions are home daily that rarely have layovers unless they are weather related!
Q: What would you tell someone who is on the fence about applying to be a driver or technician at Ruan?
It’s a family-owned company that has been in business for over 90 years. Our goal is to “hire until retire,” and there are plenty of opportunities to move around in the company—and across the country—as your life changes.
