Q: Tell us a little about your career path and background.
I graduated from Iowa State University with a degree in Marketing in 2014. During college, I interned with Casey’s General Stores and eventually accepted a full-time position, where I helped build their Customer Service Center.
In May 2022, I transitioned to the transportation and logistics industry, joining the Driver Recruiting team as a Recruiting Specialist and have had the joy of recruiting for a handful of Ruan customers. Recently, I took a leadership position within the recruiting team, where I balance hiring for my own operations while leading a team of driver recruiters and coordinators.
Q: What do you enjoy most about recruiting for Ruan?
This is a tough question to answer because I really enjoy recruiting for Ruan for multiple reasons. We haul for a diverse group of dedicated customers throughout the United States. Because of this, we can assist drivers in finding the right operation where the schedule, pay, and equipment match what they are looking for. Another part I enjoy about Driver Recruiting is building relationships with drivers and developing strong partnerships with our dedicated transportation managers and operation leaders. The people I’ve had the chance to work alongside have imparted invaluable knowledge and experience, further enhancing my skills and enjoyment in this role.
Q: What types of positions are you currently recruiting for?
Currently, I am recruiting for several customers in the manufacturing and food and beverage industries. Drivers will haul steel coils and sheets on flatbed trailers, and canned goods in dry van trailers. These accounts offer regional and home daily opportunities.
Q: What excites you about recruiting for Ruan?
What excites me most about recruiting for Ruan is the people and the culture. I enjoy explaining to our drivers that we are a family-owned company known for our integrity, safety focus, and commitment to delivering on our promises.
Q: What question are you most frequently asked by prospective drivers and technicians?
I receive many questions about Ruan’s benefits. I love this question because it allows me to share with applicants that we offer medical, dental, vision, and a 401(k) program. Our benefits provide excellent coverage at an affordable four-tier cost.
