This year, 28 Ruan drivers competed in their respective State Truck Driving Championships in Wisconsin, Maryland, Florida, and Iowa, representing their state teams and demonstrating their commitment to safety, professionalism, and driving excellence. Of those competitors, four drivers earned first-place finishes in their divisions and will represent Ruan at the National Truck Driving Championships (NTDC) in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, August 11–14.
Often referred to as the transportation industry's "Super Bowl of Safety," the NTDC is considered the highest level of competition for professional truck drivers in the United States. The event recognizes exceptional safety performance, technical knowledge, and driving skill, bringing together the nation's top drivers, many of whom have accumulated millions of accident-free miles and decades of professional experience. For many drivers, qualifying for the national championship is a career milestone that represents years of dedication, preparation, and commitment to excellence.
Advancing to the NTDC requires drivers to meet rigorous standards. To be eligible, competitors must maintain an accident-free record for the previous 12 months while demonstrating a strong commitment to safety and professionalism. Once qualified, drivers are tested in several areas, including a written examination based on the American Trucking Associations' Facts for Drivers handbook, a pre-trip vehicle inspection, and a skills-based driving course. Success in each category requires extensive preparation, with many drivers spending months studying, attending training sessions, and simulated driving courses.
