Congratulations to professional driver Mark Goforth, who was named Ruan’s 2012 Driver of the Year on Wednesday!

Mark, who operates out of Ruan’s Topeka, KS, terminal, has been with Ruan since 2005 and has logged more than 1.5 million miles during his 15 years as a professional truck driver.

We began the search for our Driver of the Year when 150 drivers—out of 4,200 drivers—from Ruan’s 260 terminals were named region finalists based on length of service, safety, driving records and exceptional customer service.

Region vice presidents then narrowed the field further to 14 region winners, who traveled to Des Moines, IA, with a guest July 16-18 for an award ceremony and other festivities. Out of the 14 region winners, Ruan’s senior leaders selected Mark. He received a trophy, cash reward and the Driver of the Year title.

While the region winners were in Des Moines, they had the opportunity to share their stories and driving philosophy, collaborate with Ruan’s top operational leaders and be recognized for their achievements during a special ceremony at the World Food Prize Hall of Laureates. During their three-night stay, they met corporate team members, visited Ruan’s headquarters, provided feedback and suggestions about what it means to be a Ruan professional truck driver and, of course, were celebrated as our most distinguished drivers. They also helped Ruan celebrate our Founder’s Days at a company picnic at Sleepy Hollow Sports Park.

We are proud of all our region winners who represent the best of the best. Thanks for the hard work you do every single day!
