Ruan proudly accepted a Commercial Investment Award from the Ankeny Economic Development Corporation (AEDC) at its Salute to Industry event October 26. In October 2020, Ruan opened the doors to our Ankeny Operating Center, a 16,500-square-foot facility that has become our flagship location in Iowa. Operations team members, professional drivers, and maintenance technicians serve a host of Ruan customers from the location, which was strategically selected for its proximity to the intersection of interstates 80 and 35.
“We needed a new operations facility in the metro area to take care of our employees and continue to grow, and we’re very happy to be in Ankeny,” said Ruan’s Vice President of Operations Lance Cheney as he accepted the award at the Salute to Industry event. Ruan is headquartered at the Ruan Center in downtown Des Moines, where nearly 400 team members support 300 operations across the country.
AEDC's mission for the past 50 years is to support and grow the business community in the area. They have played a part in making Ankeny the sixth largest community in the state with a population of 67,882 in 2021.
“You think of Ruan, and you think of the building downtown,” said Ankeny Economic Development Corporation’s Executive Director Joey Beech. “Ruan helped develop the skyline of Des Moines, and a couple of years ago, they decided to plant a flag in Ankeny and now have a beautiful facility that allows them to serve customers in central Iowa.”
