Hyliion, a leader in electrified powertrain solutions for commercial vehicles, recently announced the formation of the Hypertruck Innovation Council, and Ruan was invited to participate. This select group of fleet, logistics, and transportation companies will collaborate on Hyliion’s current and future commercial electric vehicle (EV) solutions.

“Achieving a net-carbon zero commercial transportation industry relies heavily on close collaboration between experienced and innovative minds,” said Ruan’s Vice President of Fleet Services Brad Gehring. “We’re excited to participate on the Hyliion Hypertruck Innovation Council to help deliver on the needs of fleets while working together toward a more sustainable future.”

The Council will first actively support the commercialization of the Hyliion Hypertruck ERX, a fully electric powertrain for class 8 tractors designed to provide superior performance, emissions reductions, and reduce fuel and operating costs. The Council will also be pivotal in reviewing initial prototypes of the solution, providing fleet and driver feedback, as well as operating the initial demo trucks. Ruan is joined by the following companies on the Council: Agility Logistics, American Natural Gas, Anheuser-Busch, GreenPath Logistics, NFI, Penske Truck Leasing, Ryder System, Inc., Schneider, Wegmans Food Markets, and Werner Enterprises.

“Our customers have always been at the core of our business,” said Thomas Healy, founder and CEO of Hyliion.“Their feedback and collaboration are crucial to the success of our Hybrid solution, which has already logged millions of real-world miles. That’s why we have brought together the Hypertruck Innovation Council, a group of commercial transportation industry leaders, who will be the first to test and review demonstration units of the Hypertruck ERX and whose feedback will be essential as we improve upon our technology. The Council will also help us ensure that the unique and diverse needs of today’s fleets continue to be reflected in our products as Hyliion develops the next generation of industry-leading, environmentally conscious technology and powertrain solutions.”

In addition to our membership on this new Council, Ruan is always determined to make our trucks run more effectively and efficiently. We work with manufacturer partners to develop longer-lasting, lower-emitting engines with improved performance and lower fuel consumption. We continually strive to design supply chain solutions for our customers that emphasize and take advantage of environmental efficiencies. Ruan has our first zero-emission, 100 percent battery-powered electric yard tractor deployed in Minnesota with plans for more at other operations, and we’ve reserved several fully electric heavy-duty tractors to add to our fleet in the coming months.

The transportation industry must work together to drive toward a cleaner future. Ruan believes environmental stewardship is more than a good business decision; it’s a moral obligation.
