The annual National Truck Driving & Step Van Driving Championships (NTDC), hosted by the American Trucking Associations (ATA), will take place in Minneapolis, MN, August 20–23, bringing together some of the nation’s most skilled and safest truck drivers to compete for top honors.
To advance to NTDC, a driver must meet strict safety and professionalism guidelines, including being accident-free for the previous 12 months, and earn first place in their division at the state truck driving championships. Both the state and national events require extensive preparation in various areas, including a written exam based on ATA’s Facts for Drivers book, a pre-trip inspection, and a skills driving course test.

We’re extremely proud of Ruan drivers, Michael Nichols of Salem, VA, and Aaron Imhoff of Boone, IA, for showcasing professionalism and dedication to safety, qualifying them each a spot for nationals. Michael will compete in the Tank Truck division, while Aaron will compete in the Flatbed division.
Michael and Aaron are among 34 Ruan drivers who trained and competed in state-level competitions this year. We’re proud of this high-performing group for their dedication both on and off the course and look forward to seeing their continued success at competitions in the years ahead.
Congratulations to all competitors, and best of luck to Team Ruan at the championships!
