Summary:
Ruan is seeking a world-class IT professional to join our team as a Database Administrator (DBA). We are dedicated to investing in and implementing the most innovative technology solutions in the transportation industry. Our most valuable assets are our team members who expertly execute these solutions. This position will be a SQL Server and Azure DBA that creates, monitors, and supports development and production databases with some exposure to Oracle. Experience with SQL Server on Azure, Azure Database API, Azure Synapse, Data Lake, and Data Factory is a plus!

As a Ruan DBA you will play an integral role in the success of our day-to-day operations by ensuring data access is fast and efficient to meet business requirements. Ruan DBAs are responsible for compliance to corporate and regulatory standards, best practices, and procedures for maintaining databases. Assigned databases must be kept secure and the DBA is responsible for maintaining backup and recovery solutions.

Responsibilities:
  • Ascertain user requirements, design databases, test, and coordinate changes.
  • Plan, coordinate, and implement the design, definition, tuning, licensing and installation of databases and associated software products.
  • Develop and implement procedures to solidify the integrity and security of database structures.
  • Audit databases for accuracy, appropriate data use, and quality control. Collaborate with management and users to drive appropriate data usage.
  • Ensure performance of databases and compliance with industry standards.
  • Perform routine capacity planning to determine future hardware and software needs regarding database applications.
  • Work with developersbusiness analysts, Ruan users, Ruan customers, service providers, and/or project team members to design, develop, and build various technical projects and databases.
  • Partner with database team and management to design, develop, and implement an enterprise wide data strategy. Institute ETL processes and OLAP development efforts which follow corporate and best practice standards.
  • Assist colleagues and help train other team members.
  • Perform other job-related duties and special projects as required.

Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience
    Course(s) of study: Computer Science or related field. 3-5 years experience in database development and database administration.
  • Broad knowledge of Azure and basic knowledge of OS commands.
  • SSIS or SSRS experience.
  • Azure PowerShell or CLI experience.
  • Experience monitoring and analyzing database performance.
  • Oracle 12c or 19c, OBIEE, and ODI experience is a bonus.
  • Good interpersonal skills while working within a group to carry out detailed written and oral instructions.
  • Able to work multiple projects under time constraints while setting priorities and accomplishing duties with little supervision and direction.
  • Capability to demonstrate good leadership skills.
