Sr. Managed Transportation Specialist
 
Responsible for the proficient management of shipments for contractual based customers by establishing and maintaining relationships with a variety of transportation providers.  Handles complex issues and provides guidance to less experienced staff.
 
Responsibilities:
  • Develop and manage the business and service relationship of exisiting and new customers ensuring their specific requirements are met.  Responsible for building rapport and assisting in the success of new customer start ups.     
  • Provide the highest level of customer service to both internal and external partners. Give support and guidance to co-workers as necessary in order to resolve all customer inquires timely and accurately.  Proactively investitage any shipment related concerns to ensure on-time pickup and delivery.  
  • Cultivate carrier relationships.  Work diligently with the Carrier Procurement team  to establish a variety of transportation partners capable of providing numerous modes as necessary to support clients needs.
  • Coordinate the schedule and workflow of the Logistic Specialists and Associate Logistic Specialists.   
  • Establish strong working relationships amongst co-workers and other Ruan operations including Integrated Solutions, Transport Terminals and RDAS to leverage capacity, improve service and maximize profitability.  Perform functions and support the activity of other operations as necessary.
  • Create, maintain, and/or analyze customer focused KPI reporting process focused on operational efficiencies and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Mentor and provide guidance to less experienced staff.  Serves as a subject matter expert and/or resource to others.
  • Participate in portions of the annual budgetary process and employee performance evaluations.  
  • Assist in providing leadership in manager's absence.
  • Perform other job related duties and special projects as required.
     
Requirements: 
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
    Course(s) of study:  Logistics, Transportation, Business.
  • 1-2 years’ experience in transportation or logistics industry involving dispatch and customer service.
  • Employee must have knowledge of the DOT rules and regulations.   Must have strong computer skills including MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access) and ability to learn related transportation software. 
  •  Demonstrated ability to effectively organize and prioritize workload in a multi-task environment.
  •   Must have good customer service and relationship building skills. 
  •  Must have strong verbal and written communication and the ability to effectively communicate with diverse groups of people.
