Vice President of Operations

The Vice President of Operations (VPO) is responsible for the leadership and oversight of one of Ruan’s Industry Business Unit. This business unit is comprised of various dedicated transportation operations thoughout the country. This position is part of the senior operations leadership team and is responsible for supporting Ruan’s strategic initiatives, developing strong relationships with our valued partners, driving exceptional performance, and establishing a culture of continuous improvement for the business unit. This key senior leader will drive organizational change and development for this major Ruan Industry Business Unit.  

Responsibilities:
  • Ensure Ruan’s Guiding Principles of People First, Safety Focus, Customer Exceptional Performance, Customer Satisfaction, and Continuous Improvement are evident in all of the business units’ operations and KPI’s.
  • Deliver profitable operating results. Collaborate with other senior operations leaders to create and implement operating practices that leverage all Ruan capabilities and resources.
  • Build and lead execution processes that deliver a high level of customer satisfaction.  
  • Build and maintain a strong team by attracting, developing and retaining industry-leading talent. Must demonstrate the ability to create an environment that recognizes and rewards talent.  
  • Leverage technology to streamline and improve processes.  Assure business unit is using real-time data to provide the necessary analytics and metrics for efficient execution and overall visibility.
  • Provide direction, methodology and analysis for continuous improvement efforts.
  • Build and develop strategic business relationships with both internal and external stakeholders. Ensure quality, value and exceptional service is being provided to all stakeholders. Continually assess service acceptance in the marketplace and make the necessary adjustments to provide uninterrupted value when meeting our partners’ evolving demands and needs.
  • Perform other job-related duties and special projects as required.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience in transportation logistics, marketing or related field of study.
  • 10+ years’ experience in a leadership role, directing operations and transportation.
