Ruan has an exciting opportunity in our Extended Operations Center for a new team member looking for a 12-hour shift - compressed work schedule offering 3 or 4 days off work every week. Our team members will be trained to provide seamless support and business continuity to Ruan's operations team members and customers outside of traditional work hours and provide services that can be more efficiently completed by a centralized team in Ankeny.
We are looking for a Dispatch Support Coordinator to provide central customer service and dispatch support for multiple operations throughout the Ruan network, including drivers, customers, maintenance, and operations staff. Assign workload for carriers and drivers, monitor product movements, and resolve delivery and scheduling issues. Properly monitor, edit, and update the Ruan transportation management systems to ensure all required operational data is accurately captured in a real-time manner.
  • Accurately prepare and process real time data including but not limited to: maintaining driver and shipment activities in computer systems, driver hours of service, fuel inquiries and other required items. Responsible to update and maintain dispatch information in real time.
  • Manage customer account activity. Respond to customer issues, may include but not limited to looking up information, completing reports and updating orders, recording necessary information, and responding to emails.
  • Effectively communicate with operations, customers, and carriers on a regular and timely basis regarding issues impacting service expectations and commitments.
  • Record and maintain an updated computer log of incidences. Manage administrative and customer service responsibilities.
  • Assist operations team members and drivers with training and resource material for standard operational processes and procedures as necessary.  
  • Perform other job-related duties and special projects as required.
  • High School Diploma/GED or equivalent experience
  • 1-2 years’ experience in transportation, dispatching, customer service, or other related experience
  • Requires excellent oral and written communication skills. Must be able to provide good customer service and problem-solving abilities. 
  • Must be able and willing to work 12-hour shifts including weekends. Shift schedule:  Every other Sunday 8A-8P, Wednesday’s 5P-5A, Thursday’s 5P-5A, every other Friday 5P-5A and every other Saturday 8A-8P (the team member will work on Fridays when they don’t work on Saturday’s and vice versa).
  • Must be dependable, reliable, and able to work independently in a fast pace environment. Needs strong organizational, prioritization, and multitasking skills.
  • Strong computer skills including MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and ability to learn to work on various software required.
