Warehouse Safety Administrator
 
Primary onsite safety resource responsible to ensure compliance with OSHA/NFPA/DOT regulations and company specific safety policies and procedures. Regularly conducts team member safety training, incident investigations, safety audits, facility inspections, observations, problem resolution and continuous improvement in a safety focused environment consistent with Ruan's Guiding Principles.
 
Responsibilities:
  • Train, coach and mentor team members in developing and maintaining safe work practices necessary for physical work and operating material handling equipment, performing light assembly, handling tools and other equipment as necessary. Evaluate and measure team member safety performance and compliance with OSHA/NFPA regulations and company policies and procedures.
  • Conduct team member orientation, training, and safety meetings.  Assess performance and determine training needs through observations, skill assessments and incident trend analysis. Provide recommendations for continuous improvement and assist with the planning and development of training programs.
  • As necessary, participate in the recruitment, interviewing and selection of new warehouse team members.
  • Assess all incidents/accidents at warehouse operation(s) and provide feedback and recommendations as part of the root cause analysis process. Provide regular weekly performance reports to management.
  • Interpret, monitor and enforce OSHA, NFPA and DOT regulations to ensure compliance.
  • Process, complete, and maintain necessary training and OSHA (300 and 300A) as required.  Maintain employee safety meeting attendance and training history records per company policy.
  • Conduct routine audits of physical warehouse(s) to ensure compliance with OSHA and NFPA regulations.  Resolve any identified problems in order to maintain compliance.
  • Develop and maintain good working relationships with team members, supervisors, operations staff and customer personnel.
  • Communicate effectively with regulatory agencies, including OSHA, as required by federal, state and municipal regulations and in accordance with company policies and procedures.
  • Perform other job-related duties and special projects as required.
 
Requirements:
  • Associate, Vocational, or Technical Degree or equivalent work experience. Course(s) of study: Health/Safety, Industrial-Manufacturing Technology Transportation Logistics/Warehousing, Supply Chain, or related field of study
  • 2 plus years of HSE related work in warehousing or manufacturing, including training, orientation, conducting safety audits, etc. Experience with material handling equipment including forklifts, powered industrial trucks and cranes. 
  • Potential for growth and career development. 
  • Forklift operating certification required.
  • Employee must have a broad knowledge of OSHA, NFPA and DOT rules and regulations. Ability to learn necessary safety and company policies/procedures. 
  • Strong communication and presentation skills.  
  • Ability to assess, coach, mentor, and train.  
  • Must be able to understand, demonstrate and explain safe equipment operation to others.  
  • Good problem solving and decision-making skills.  
  • Must have ability to solve practical problems and interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.  
  • Must have mathematical ability to calculate figures and amounts such as area measurements, capacities, and volumes.  
  • Requires strong MS Office computer skills. 
  • CDL is preferred, but not required
