About the Program

What is the program?
Our Technician Apprenticeship Program is a gateway to a dynamic and rewarding career in the ever-evolving transportation and logistics industry. Initiated in 2019, this program targets motivated individuals interested in jumpstarting their careers with a stable, family-owned company in the diesel technician field. Gain expertise in maintenance of a diverse fleet, using cutting-edge technologies and adhering to the highest safety standards. Apprentices work closely with experienced technician mentors, ensuring they receive hands-on guidance and support.
Who is eligible?
Candidates who are motivated to succeed and have completed high school or earned their GED are considered for this program. While a technical aptitude is preferred, no mechanical or transportation experience is required.
What does the program include?
  • Three-year competency-based program with progressive pay and responsibility increases
  • Apprentices work directly with a technician mentor to learn how to maintain Class 8 equipment to Ruan's stringent standards
  • Apprentices complete the same dealer-level factory training as Ruan technicians
  • Use a Ruan-provided professional technician tool set while learning new skills
  • Full-time opportunity; 40+ hours per week
  • Successful completion of the apprenticeship program leads to a career as a Ruan Technician II
What is a typical career path for someone who completes the program?

Start your career with Ruan and advance as far as your goals will take you. Ruan is proud to offer career paths that benefit our team members. Many employees have started as Utility Workers or Technicians I and have progressed through the organization, with some even reaching the level of Senior Vice President.

We prioritize career development and advancement, investing in ongoing training for all team members.

Ruan's Technician Apprenticeship program offers invaluable first-hand experience, guided by our skilled technicians. Apprentices have the opportunity to learn directly from the best in the field. Meet Samantha W., a current Technician Apprentice, and Cody D., a Technician & Mentor, at one of Ruan's Midwest shops. This mentorship provides a comprehensive understanding of both routine maintenance and complex repairs, equipping apprentices with the expertise needed to uphold Ruan's commitment to excellence in equipment maintenance.
