DMACC’s Trades and Industry Building Ground Breaking Ceremony

Nov 24, 2025

Earlier this month, Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC) celebrated the groundbreaking of its new Trades and Industry Building on the Ankeny campus. The 72,000-square-foot facility will support DMACC’s five trade programs, including Diesel Technology, by expanding and modernizing the hands-on training environment for students.

Ben Steines, Maintenance Operations Leader, attended the ceremony and spoke on behalf of Ruan:

“Ruan has been a longtime supporter and partner of the DMACC Diesel Technology program. This large investment in new facilities is just a small part in how DMACC provides top-notch technical training and education on today’s advanced vehicle systems and beyond. We are thankful to have such a great resource in our backyard in central Iowa, and we’re excited to continue to be a part of the success story of the Diesel Technology program at DMACC.”

Ruan’s support of DMACC spans more than 30 years. Throughout that time, we have proudly hosted our annual Top Tech competitions on campus, donated equipment, served on the advisory board, and hired many diesel technicians who trained through DMACC’s program.

In a world where skilled trades are essential to keeping our communities running, we are excited to see DMACC’s continued investment in expanding and strengthening trades programs in central Iowa through this new facility. We look forward to continuing our support for the college and its Diesel Technology program.
