John Ruan III Elected Vice Chairman Of U.S. Chamber Of Commerce

The U.S. Chamber of Commerce recently named John Ruan III as its vice chairman for 2010. Ruan is chairman and CEO of Ruan Transport Corporation in Des Moines, Iowa.

 

"John Ruan's selection as vice chairman of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce speaks to his leadership ability and the respect he commands from his peers," American Trucking Associations president and CEO Bill Graves said. "It is a tremendous honor for the trucking industry to have one of our leaders in line to become chairman of the leading business organization/lobby in the nation."

 

Ruan also serves as director and chairman of Iowa Export-Import Trading Co. and the World Food Prize Foundation; director, chairman and president of City Center Corporation; trustee of John Ruan Foundation Trust, and director, chairman, president and CEO of Ruan Center Corporation, and Ruan, Inc. 

 

Outside of the transportation business, Ruan is director, chairman, president and CEO of bank holding company, BTC Financial Corporation and serves as chairman and director for the bank subsidiary, Bankers Trust Company NA.

 

Ruan also serves as, director of Hubbell Realty Co., Iowa Business Council, Greater Des Moines Partnership, Downtown Community Alliance and Chief Executives Organization.  He is trustee of Culver Educational Foundation, and past chairman of The Des Moines Metropolitan Planning Organization and The Greater Des Moines YMCA.

 

Ruan received his B.S. in Business Administration from Northwestern University, and is a graduate of the Program for Management Development at Harvard Business School.
