Ruan Names Steve Chapman President and CEO of Ruan Transportation Management Systems

January 14, 2011, Des Moines, IA - John Ruan III, chairman and CEO of Ruan Financial Corporation, the holding company of Ruan Transportation Management Systems (RTMS), today announced the promotion of Steven G. Chapman from chief operating officer of RTMS to president and chief executive officer.  Chapman, who has been with the Ruan Companies since joining the board in 2007, was formerly the CEO of ITAGroup for 15 years. 

 

"When Steve joined Ruan with a focus on growth initiatives and process improvements, I was confident the company would see results," said Ruan. "Steve's leadership has been invaluable and we ended the year strong as a result of his efforts and the commitment of our team members."

 

In just a few months, Ruan, who currently serves as vice chairman of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce will become the first Iowan to serve as its chairman. The U.S. Chamber of Commerce is the world's largest business federation and represents the interests of more than 3 million businesses of all sizes, sectors, and regions, as well as state and local chambers and industry associations.

Ruan will also continue to serve as chairman and CEO of BTC Financial Corporation, the holding company for Bankers Trust Company.

 

Chapman, age 59, serves as Chairman of the Board of Directors of ITAGroup, Inc. and Mercy Medical Center.  He also serves on the boards of directors of Per Mar Security Services, United Way of Central Iowa and the Greater Des Moines Partnership. Chapman is a graduate of Drake University with a B.S. degree in Marketing and Economics.

Steve and his wife Melissa live in West Des Moines and have two adult children.
