A few years ago, the State of Iowa's Alcoholic Beverages Division (ABD) was at a crossroads. Sales were increasing, as consumers sought a greater variety of spirits and more places to make alcoholic purchases. State laws were changed at the time to allow convenience stores to sell alcohol, but that stretched the state's capacity to meet new delivery demands.
Officials realized they needed to partner with a company that had experience with both distribution and logistics. They found that partner in Iowa-based Ruan, a premier provider of Integrated Supply Chain Solutions. Today, Ruan staffs and manages ABD's central distribution facility in Ankeny, IA, as well as delivers products to more than 1,850 different outlets through the state.
