RUAN WANTS YOU FOR OUR NEW MILITARY DRIVER APPRENTICESHIP!

PROGRAM OVERVIEW

  • Ruan will hire and train separating U.S. military personnel with military operational specialty (MOS) 88M (motor transport driver).
  • We will guide candidates through an accredited Department of Labor Truck Driving Apprenticeship and employ them to haul freight as a Class A CDL truck driver. 
  • We are partnering with Hawkeye Community College in Waterloo, IA, for the initial six weeks of training.
  • Apprentices will haul retail store merchandise out of Cedar Falls, IA, enjoy being home daily, and earn between $45,000 and $50,000 the first year.
  • This program is currently available to separating U.S. military personnel who live in or are willing to relocate to the Cedar Falls/Waterloo area.

PROGRAM DETAILS

  • Hawkeye Community College is a recognized education partner of the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) and is approved by the VA for Military Spouse Career Advancement Accounts (MyCAA).
  • Separating military personnel will work with Hawkeye Community College to fund their training through the GI Bill®, with additional funds available through the Trucking with the Troops grant provided by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA).
  • Ruan will provide the trainee a stipend during the six-week program of $300 per week.
  • During the six weeks of on-the-job training, Ruan will pay the trainee a training wage of $700 per week.
  • For the nine months that the trainee is an Apprentice-level driver, they will be monitored for progress and earn 90 percent of what a regular Ruan driver would make.
