Frequently Asked Questions

If your question is not addressed below, please call the Human Resources Hotline at 1-800-845-6675 option 4 or e-mail benefits@ruan.com.

1.   What is the name of my medical network?

All Ruan medical plans utilize the BlueCard PPO network.

2.   How can I tell if my medical doctor is part of the network?

You may view/print a list of network providers at www.bcbs.com. Click on the Find a Doctor or Hospital tab and enter prefix "RUA" for the BlueCard PPO network. Type in your city/state or zip code to get a local listing. You may also narrow your search by selecting a specific name or specialty. Or, you may call 1-800-810-BLUE to verify if your doctor is part of the network or receive the names/numbers of a few local participating providers.

3.   Will my medical insurance work outside the U.S.?

Yes. Blue Cross Blue Shield includes worldwide participating hospitals. When you're traveling outside the U.S. and need hospital care, your claim will be handled just like it is at home when you show your ID card at participating hospitals.

4.   What is the name of my dental network?

You have two options: Delta Premier and Delta PPO.  Both provide access to quality dental services at discounted prices, however services from a PPO provider offer a lower deductible and co-insurance costs on basic dental care services.

5.   How can I tell if my dentist is part of the dental network?

For dentists in your area go to www.deltadentalia.com. From the website select "Provider Search", then "Find A Delta Dental Network Dentist".  Type in your city/state or zip code.  Under the provider's name will list their Premier and/or PPO status. Or, you may call Customer Service at 1-800-544-0718 to verify if your dentist is part of the network or receive the name/numbers of a few local participating providers.

6.   What is the name of my vision network?

VSP Advantage.

7.   How can I tell if my eye doctor is part of the VSP Signature network?

Go to www.vsp.com. Under the Members tab, click on Find a VSP Doctor. (You may register for the site or be a guest by clicking the "Not a member?" link.) Enter your city/state and select the VSP Signature network from the drop-down list. Or, you may call Customer Service at 1-800-877-7195 to verify if your ophthalmologist or optometrist is part of the network or receive the name/numbers of a few local participating providers.

8.   Why didn't I receive a vision insurance card?

Unlike medical and dental services, which are used multiple times per year, Ruan's vision program offers an allowance for services only once per year. Therefore, ID cards are not printed and distributed. Prior to your eye appointment, you may print off an informational flyer located on the Benefit Plans tab and give this to your provider. Or, if you wish to carry this information with you, you may print off a wallet card at www.vsp.com.

9.   Can I keep my health insurance after leaving Ruan?

In most cases, you may continue your medical, dental and/or vision benefits through COBRA. This federal law allows members who lose their coverage due to termination, reduction in hours, divorce, loss of dependent status, entitlement to Medicare or death of employee to continue the plan on their own for a limited amount of time. For an overview about COBRA please reference the Employee Benefits Guide, or the complete legal notice available under the "Notices and Legal Rights" page of this website. A COBRA flyer with current costs and the legal notice are posted on the Intranet Portal under Employee Benefits / Health, Life & Disability.

10. Do any of the Ruan medical plans cover the essential minimum benefits required under the Affordable Care Act (health care reform)?

Yes. All Ruan medical plans meet the ACA requirements.

11. Is Ruan's health plan considered "affordable" under the Affordable Care Act (health care reform)?

Yes. By offering our single Light medical plan free of charge for non-tobacco employees, our program meets ACA's affordability test. Therefore, you are most likely not eligible for a tax credit or subsidy through the public health insurance marketplace.

12. How do Ruan's medical plans compare to the metallic tiers under the public health insurance marketplace?

Based on our current program, our Light medical plan is comparable to a marketplace bronze plan; Basic is comparable to a low Silver plan; Choice Savings is comparable to a high Silver plan; and Premier is comparable to a Platinum plan.
